Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to the fanbase for his response when substituted in Sunday's fiery Clasico clash triumph.

The Brazilian was taken off in the 72nd minute and displayed his disappointment by walking immediately to the dressing room.

Vinicius later returned to the sidelines and, following his side's 2-1 victory, attempted to approach Barça's youngster Yamal during contentious after the game scenes.

"Now I want to say sorry to all the Real Madrid fans for my reaction when I was substituted in the derby," Vinicius posted on X.

"Similarly to I have said in person during this morning's session, I would like to express regret anew to my teammates, the team, and the club president.

"Sometimes emotion takes over me because I always want to triumph and assist my club. My determined nature comes from the love I hold for this club and everything it represents."

He joined Real from Brazil in 2018 for millions and has accumulated triple figures in 335 appearances.

But his career in the La Liga is unclear with rumors in lately suggesting that Real would consider allowing the 25-year-old depart if they obtained a good proposal.

When Vinicius was replaced on that day, TV coverage from coverage provider Dazn captured him saying: "It's always me! I'm departing the side! It's better if I leave, I'm moving on."

In his latest post on the platform, the athlete said: "I vow to keep striving constantly for the welfare of Los Blancos, as I have performed since the very beginning."
