Prince William Set to Attend UN Climate Conference in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a reception preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belem.

Father and son were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a pre-COP30 gathering arranged together with the United Kingdom administration.

Environmental Advocacy Commitment

The King has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the COP summit.

Official representatives have described Prince William's attendance at the next COP as taking on an significant responsibility in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.

This engagement featured addresses together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

The UN meeting will align with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the previous day he joins the climate conference on 6 November.

The monarch has been a key figure at past COP meetings, giving the opening address in Dubai for COP28, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks confronting humanity over global warming, global temperature increases and species extinction," the monarch informed delegates.
