Explore Twenty-Nine Fresh Cards from Magic: The Gathering's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Featuring a Commander Deck!)

Everyone's beloved pizza-loving heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The popular TCG's publisher, the game's creators, unveiled a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel held at New York Comic Con. Could this be a exciting addition or yet another crossover marketing move? Let you decide.

Take a look below at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with some useful background. All items listed here launches on March 6, 2026, with one exception — a special Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27.

MTG x TMNT: Main Set Reveals

Before we get into the many unique products and bundles available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by the developers. Standard booster packs for the expansion are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.

Let's unpack a few surprising details. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the already established Ninjutsu, where gamers can play big creatures into the battlefield when an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The big difference in this case is that Sneak can apply to non-creature spells as well. The designers also used this chance to refine the ability a little (Sneak counts as casting, as opposed to Ninjutsu). The original ability is staying, but it's more likely we'll see Sneak in future sets from now on.

“If we ever were to return to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that plane is it was developed and it’s a hallmark to that,” an experienced designer explained. “However in other settings, because the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be Standard-legal, it’s probable that we'd use Sneak.”

Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is among four cards with unique artwork designed specifically for the set by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play game cards that aren't in your main deck, many players were. Yet as per Wizards, it’s now a official card in every format of Magic.

In any case, here are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:

Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers state they took care to ensure the new cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the design for over a year and we were aware it was going to be in standard and which sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer says. “We designed to make sure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”

For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet strategy built around artifacts.

“They combine to offer the pieces for a fun Standard deck,” the designer added.

Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!

After declining to design any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary creatures that can serve as your Commander depending on how you pair them (five cards have a special Partner mechanic called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command zone instead of only one). Check them out below:

The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, although that could easily go up based on popularity. Wizards indicated that it contains 43 new cards altogether, which means an extra 37 Turtle-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary commanders shown earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests about 20 reprinted cards if we assume the deck comes with 37 lands.)

How will the TMNT edition of the iconic Sol Ring look like? Fans must wait and find out.

TMNT Bundle (Regular)

Typically, Wizards is offering a bundle. This one is priced at $69.99 and contains the following:

  • 9 Play Boosters
  • 15 Traditional foil land cards
  • 15 Non-foil land cards
  • 2 helper cards
  • 1 Foil promotional card
  • 1 Large spindown life counter
  • 1 Card-storage box

Pizza-Themed Bundle

This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, primarily because it comes in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Each pizza-themed bundle is priced at $99.99 and includes the items below:

  • Nine Standard Boosters
  • One Collector Booster
  • Twenty-five Non-foil pizza lands
  • 5 Traditional foil pizza basic lands
  • 2 Foil Pizza Bundle promotional cards
  • 2 helper cards
  • 1 Large spindown life counter
  • One Card-storage box

If you’re wondering what a “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s basically a reprinted older card with all-new Turtle-themed art. Wizards revealed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces on a pizza. In total, there are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.

The Pizza Bundle releases a few weeks after the main set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Bundle

This special bundle is made for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. That will get you:

  • 12 Standard Boosters (the perfect amount four people to play draft)
  • 1 Collector Booster (also known as, the reward for coming in first)
  • Ninety Regular basic lands (for building your draft deck)
  • 10 Regular token cards
  • One Draft insert (a single-page instruction sheet to drafting the set)

Cooperative Play Set

Finally, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic products specifically for new players. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of decks that let you and a friend team up against a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.

The concept here that every Boss card grants unique powers to the creatures contained in the boss deck. The Boss automatically casts one other card per turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
